Favorite Quote: "You can never know everything and part of what you know is always wrong. Perhaps even the most important part. A portion of wisdom lies in knowing that. A portion of courage lies in going on anyway. "
- Lan, Winter's Heart by Robert Jordan
Bio:
I am a Christian who is passionate first and foremost about my Lord, Jesus Christ. Jesus gave his life for me and I love him so much. In that, I strive to be the man outlined in Titus 1:7-8. "Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless, not overbearing, not quick tempered, nor given to drunkeness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined".
I have been working in IT for the past 12 years as an IT Manager, Engineer, Web Developer, Information Systems and Security Architect, Teacher, and Network Administrator in the US and Japan. I am a member of many professional groups including the ACM, NEOSA, NOITR, and InfraGard and am constantly learning something new.
In addition to working as the Network Operations Manager at JurInnov and an Adjunct Professor of Computer Information Systems at LCCC, I am on the board of advisors at Vatterott College and the Treasurer for Calvary Community Church. I serve in various capacities for the annual Ohayocon convention and I am the faculty advisor for the LCCC Anime Society. I also present at seminars and colleges on information systems, security, Japanese culture, and interviewing and publish IT related magazine articles.
As part of my continuing pursuit of knowledge, I am working on my Doctorate in Information Assurance. I plan on researching information security corporate culture so that companies can be more aware of cultural elements that promote and inhibit security initiatives and how their culture can adapt to enhance its information security competencies. I stay up to date with new technologies and certifications. Additionally, I mentor others in their efforts to obtain certifications through my work as moderator of the CWNP (Certified Wireless Network Professional) and MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) user groups.
God is my daily source of strength and my motivation in life. He has given me so many opportunities and developed me into the person I am today. I am thankful for the relationships, knowledge, and experience he has given me. Knowledge without wisdom is worthless. The Bible is my source of Wisdom and the guide for my life.
By the way, if you are wondering what the latin phrase at the top means, it is translated as "confirmity of our minds to the fact". It is used in Epistemology (study of knowledge) to refer to internalizing new data. I feel the phrase is suited to this site as here is where I present new data and where some can observe the synthesis and internalization that I go through as I gather data.
